Thank you faithful readers for checking in all month as we celebrate the month of love. I have loved reading all of the sweet stories that we have received!
Tell us a bit about yourselves…
Warren and Gretta live in Danville and are in the process of buying their first house. Gretta is from Danville and Warren is from Lexington. Warren is a RadioShack store manager in Frankfort. They have two dogs, Shiva and Sherlock and they are their babies. Warren sings in a choir and music is one of his many passions. Gretta loves to cook and bake.
How did you first meet? Was it “love at first sight” or were your “just friends”?
We met at RadioShack. Warren was an temporary manager at the store I worked at. It was neither at first. We really didn’t get along at all. We didn’t become friends until after he left. We both had different ideas of how the store should run. I was a bit of a control freak.
Where did you go on your first date?
At the time we didn’t consider it a date. Neither one of us wanted to admit we were more than friends, but our first date was Marrika’s on Valentine’s Day.
Where did you share your first kiss?
On Warren’s couch.
When did you know that he/she was “the one”?
Warren: not long after we moved in together. But I had a pretty good idea she was before we started dating. For me it was a process of getting to know her that made me realize she was the one.
Gretta: I kind of always knew he was the one. There isn’t really a single moment that made me think “oh wow, he’s the one.” I just know the more I got to know him the more I fell in love with him and I knew I didn’t want forever with anyone else.
Tell us about your engagement proposal…
Warren knew I wanted it to be “low-key.” I didn’t want some huge grand thing in public so he proposed at our apartment on December 23rd. He hid clues all around the apartment and the last clue led me to the Christmas tree that had an ornament on it with my ring in it.
When and where were you married?
September 5th 2015. In Danville, KY.
He Said/She Said…
My partner’s best quality is…
Warren: Her motherly instincts. I’ve always thought that she’d be the best mother to our future children and she’s so kind and caring to everyone. She gives more than she takes.
Gretta: I’m not really sure the best way of wording this but his mind. His intelligence. He’s always been so good at understanding what I need or want and why. And talking to him about anything always fascinates me.
The thing about my partner that drives me crazy is…
Warren: She leaves her hair towels on the floor, every time.
Gretta: His refusal to learn how to cook – unless it requires a grill.
My number one piece of advice about love is…
Warren: Always look for compromise. It isn’t about winning.
Gretta: Trust in it and your partner. It’s not easy but just know that you’re in it together and if you trust in your love you can get through anything.
To true love.
